To nominate for the 2012 FSC Pool Rescue Clinic interested athletes are ask to complete the attached nomination form and must be submitted to Shane Knight, Surf Sports Development Officer, by post, email of fax by June 8th 2012.

Please note that although the Clinic is running in conjunction with the FSC Branch Pool Championships it is a separate event.All nominations for the Pool Clinic should be completed on the below form, all entries for the Branch Championships should be done through the Branch entry system. CHANGES IN THE ‚MAG

You will have noticed changes in this issue of the ‘mag’. The layout and the system used has been necessary to make it easier to put on our website and to also send it out by e-mail. The Emergency Response System has had its busiest year since its inception in 2008. State / Branch Duty Officers and Callout Team members have done a tremendous job in responding to the continuous stream of after-hour emergencies.

SLSNSW is calling for nominations for the 2013 NSW Country Representative Team to compete in the Trans Tasman Tri Series in New Zealand’s Northern Region

Objective

5.2.1 Provide opportunities and pathways for athletes at all levels.

Action

Please complete the nomination form and return to your branch by Friday 8th June. Branch must then forward endorsed nominations to SLSNSW by Wednesday 13th June 2012.

Coach Education Day  Sunday 13th May 2012

Illawarra Academy of Sport together with Sport and Recreation Office of Communities would like to extend an invitation to all community coaches and club volunteers to attend the Academy s inaugural Coach Education Day.

This is an exciting opportunity for coaches of local sporting clubs to attend sessions on Child Protection and Conflict Resolution alongside current academy coaches.

CHILD PROTECTION FOR COACHES      8.30am  to 9.30am
This session provides current coaches with an overview of child protection in a sporting context, current information on child protection legislation, how child abuse should be reported and investigated, and the obligations of coaches who work with children. Coaches will leave the session better informed on how to best protect children and ensure a child feels safe while participating in sport.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION FOR COACHES      10.00am to 11.00am
This session is designed to provide information and strategies for coaches on how to deal with conflict and unsavoury behaviour in the sporting environment. The session involves practical examples and advice for coaches on the various strategies that can be utilised to improve the behaviour of all in the sporting environment.
