Fun carnival and BBQ
Fun carnival was on today. Definitely a success, and there will be another in April on a Saturday afternoon again. Once we have set a date there will be all the usual communications. Many thanks to all the helpers, and to all the competitors. Big thank you to Ivan for donating the major lucky door prize of the surf club rugby jumper, and to AKWA surf shop for donating heaps of prizes. See you for Sunday handicap swim in the morning at 8:30. Tony.
Fun Carnival & BBQ – more info
The program is firming up for the fun carnival this Saturday 4-6pm. Water events may include handicapped swim and board races, a board rescue, and a novelty tube relay. Beach events may include a 1km run, sprint, flags, relay, and novelty backwards only flags event. Expect carnage on that one! Everyone who goes in more than 4 events goes in the draw for prizes generously supplied by AKWA surf shop. BBQ snags upstairs in the club from 6pm. Be there!

Pambula carnival and camping
Pambula carnival is on 23/24th March with seniors on Saturday from around midday, nippers on Sunday. A few of us went last year and it was a really friendly carnival. Camping and cabins right next door. Great end of season getaway for those not going to State and Aussies.

Upcoming carnivals
Carnivals begin in 1 month, so time to get training. Board training is underway from 6-7am on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Water this morning was a beautiful 31 degrees (this may be a typo, definitely wear a wetsuit).
Sydney Water carnivals are on 27 October, 3 and 24 November, and 1 December with venues around the Illawarra to be announced. These carnivals are a good test against competitors from the Illawarra and Sydney, and are for Nippers, Seniors and Masters competitors.

Swim, board, ski – new training times
Great news, daylight saving is over. The cows can relax, the curtains will stop fading, and we can get back to the beach in the morning.
The new training timetable is posted in the members info section. Click on the link below to go straight there.
The water is warm, and we can get a few more weeks of board paddling in. Board training is for both nippers and seniors. Keith is still running pool sessions 2 afternoons to get us ready for the ocean swim, and Crocko’s strength training sessions are underway. Congratulations to the new batch of ski paddlers who did a few weeks in the lake getting basic technique sorted out. Now we can put it to use in the ocean.
