The Member Services team is excited to announce the Surf Life Saving NSW development opportunities for the 2013-14 season. We have summarised the key details of these programs so that clubs and branches can work with members to identify ideal candidates for these events. If you are a member who is interested in these programs, be one of the first to prepare your nomination and present it to your club and branch by the due dates.

18-25 Development Networking Program
22-24 November 2013 – YHA Darling Harbour, Sydney
18-25 year members will collaborate with surf life saving experts, fellow lifesavers and motivational facilitators in a weekend packed with information exchange and knowledge building. The weekend will encompass team challenges, exercises that develop negotiation, problem solving and leadership skills that can be used within and external to surf life saving. A firm knowledge of pathways and opportunities available will maintain the required enthusiasm and ensure continued personal growth.

Lifesaving Exchange Program
24-27 January 2014 – Sydney and Byron Bay
The Lifesaving Exchange Program targets future and current Patrol Captains between the ages of 18 and 25. The Program consists of the ‘City to Country Exchange’ and the ‘Country to City Exchange’, both Programs aim to broaden the lifesaving experience and skills of participants, provide development and leadership opportunities for our members and to increase lifesaving standards across NSW. The ‘City to Country Exchange’ will be hosted by the Far North Coast Branch in Byron Bay and is open to members from Sydney Northern Beaches Branch and Sydney Branch, while the ‘Country to City Program’ will be hosted by Sydney Branch and is open to all members, other than those from Sydney Northern Beaches Branch and Sydney Branch.

Junior Lifesaver of the Year Development Camp
14-17 April 2014 – The Collaroy Centre, Sydney
This Camp is for U13-14 members who are the branch winners of the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Award. The focus of this camp is a combination of fun and learning through experience. Participants will be involved in physical challenges, information sharing through presentations and discussions, activities and scenario’s which require leadership, teamwork and communication.
