Branch Directors of Surf Sports,
I would just like to update you on a few things that have been happening in Surf Sports as well as a few programs/teams that have been called for via club mail/SLSNSW Website and the SLSNSW facebook page.
As you know the major events are out of the way but the development programs and the nominations for upcoming teams etc begin. At the moment we have the following circulars out now:
- SLSNSW Country Representative Team Nomination (Download – Country Branches Only)
- Pool Rescue Clinic and High Performance Program (Download – Open to all)
- Pool Rescue Clinic FSC (Download – Open to all, highly encouraged for FSC and SC athletes to attend)
- 2012 Surf Boat Schools (Download – open to all)
If you could please send the relevant circulars to your members that would be great. Many of these programs were introduced last year and we have already received great support, so let’s hope we can continue with what has already been built in NSW.
Other circulars soon to be released will be the Talented Athlete Program and High Performance Program.
Branch Directors Conference
The Branch Directors of Surf Sports conference will be held at the Westpac Helicopter Base, Anzac Parade La Perouse on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August. Accommodation will be at the Novotel New Brighton Beach roughly around 10 minutes drive from the Conference Location. Could you please all have your Agenda Items submitted by June 15th to allow us to have the Agenda to you in sufficient time (Download Agenda Item Request form). If you haven’t already RSVP could you please do so ASAP. If you are unable to attend please let us know who your proxy will be ASAP.
The FNC held their Branch Pool Championships last Sunday (27 May) at Southern Cross University Lismore with great success. With over 75 competitors and 30 officials attending it shows that Pool Rescue is starting to play a larger part on everybody’s radar. Huge congratulations to John Watson for putting this great event together!
SLSNSW also held one of the three Pool Rescue Clinics the day prior to this event to allow those athletes, officials and developing coaches who have never taken part in pool rescue to get a grasp of it before competing/officiating the next day. With over 50 athletes and 20 developing coaches/officials attending (far exceeding SLSNSW’s Target), facilitators led by Russell Green (Coach), Donny Van (Official), Cuz Kirkwood and Matt Green could not have been happier.
The NSW IRB train on squad has been called and closed. The first training session (40 plus expected) will commence this weekend after Round 3 of the SLSNSW IRB Premiership at Forster SLSC (Download Memo of training dates and venues).
I will be on Annual leave from June 20th so if you need anything after this date please contact the Surf Sports Team.
If you have any further questions please let me know.
