CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE
500m Junior & Novice Ocean Swim Perfect for young swimmers (ages 10-12) and first-time ocean swimmers (13+). This U-shaped course starts and finishes at the southern end of Mollymook Beach, with two buoys to navigate. It’s the ideal way to experience the thrill of ocean swimming in a supportive, safe environment.
2.2km Ocean Swim The main event for experienced swimmers aged 13 and over. Starting at the northern end of Mollymook Beach, you’ll swim south to finish in front of the Surf Club. It’s a one-way course that showcases the full beauty of our coastline. Want a more relaxed pace? Join the “Back of the Pack” division where flippers, kickboards, masks, and snorkels are all welcome to help you complete the course.
250m Dash for Cash Already conquered the 500m or 2.2km? Stick around for the sprint! This quick U-shaped course runs right after the main events, with $100 cash prizes for the fastest male and female finishers. It’s fast, fun, and a great way to cap off your swim day.

- 9:30am — 500m RACE START (Southern end of beach)
- 10:10am — 2.2km Course Overview (in front of Surf Club)
- 10:20am — Swimmers move to northern start line
- 10:50am — 2.2km Pre-Race Safety Briefing
- 11:00am — 2.2km RACE START (Northern end of beach)
- 12:15pm — 250m Dash for Cash
- 12:30pm — Prize Presentations / Bar Opens / Live Music Begins
- 1:30pm — Valentine’s Day Commitment Ceremonies
GETTING TO THE START LINE
For the 2.2km swim: You’ll need to be at the northern end of Mollymook Beach by 10:20am for the mandatory safety briefing. You can either:
- Walk along the beach (leave by 9:45am)
- Catch the free MSLSC shuttle bus (22-seater running continuous loops)
The shuttle makes it easy—no need to worry about the timing, just hop on!

2.2km Ocean Swim — $65 Includes: Entry, swim cap, watermelon at finish, bottled water, and automatic entry into the Dash for Cash
500m Junior & Novice — $30 Includes: Entry, swim cap, watermelon at finish, bottled water, and automatic entry into the Dash for Cash
Late Entry Fee: Additional $15 for entries lodged after Thursday, February 12th, 2026

WEATHER & CANCELLATIONS
The Mollymook SLSC Ocean Swim Committee reserves the right to cancel if conditions are deemed unsafe. Nobody wants this, but safety always comes first.

- Tune into Power FM or 2ST from 6am Saturday morning
- Note: Entry fees are non-refundable if the event is cancelled, as most costs are incurred before race day. However, credits may be considered for next year’s event.
SAFETY FIRST
Your safety is our top priority. Here’s what you need to know:
Water Safety:
- Trained water safety officers and patrol craft monitor the entire course
- First aid stations at start and finish lines
- If you’re in trouble: Move to the side of the course and raise one hand straight above your head
Pre-Race Briefings:
- Mandatory safety briefings before each swim
- Course details, conditions, and safety protocols covered
- Don’t miss your briefing—it could save your life
Swim Smart:
- Your physical condition is your responsibility—know your limits
- All swimmers must wear their prescribed cap and race number
- Paddlers accompanying swimmers must stay well clear of other competitors
RACE DAY ESSENTIALS
What to Bring:
- Your confirmation email or entry details
- Goggles, swim cap (provided), and any personal gear
- Towel and warm clothing for after your swim
- Sunscreen and hat for spectators
Baggage Storage:
- Secure storage available from 8:00am in front of the Surf Club
- Or store personal items in your vehicle
Important Notes:
- Back of the Pack swimmers (using fins, kickboards, etc.) are not eligible for podium prizes
- All swimmers must demonstrate fair and sportsmanlike conduct
- Any aggressive or interfering behavior may result in disqualification
